On January 14, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham gathered mayors from across the state for an online summit on infrastructure priorities. She delayed annual infrastructure recommendations to hold this meeting and a similar one with county governments to discuss how to spend remaining federal pandemic relief funds and a sizable state budget surplus.
These interactions with local governments on infrastructure needs will influence how the remaining $600 million of federal pandemic relief funds are allocated. They will also start the conversation on how to spend funds the state will receive from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
Infrastructure priorities discussed ranged from water systems and roads to high-speed Internet.
