The Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has published a storymap about their use of Clean Water Act Section 604(b) grant funding to support laboratory analysis for volunteer water quality monitoring programs. In 2021, the DEQ provided funding to nine volunteer groups to assist them in their water quality monitoring efforts by paying for sample analysis.
The Volunteer Monitoring Lab Analysis Support Program (VMLASP) grants up to $5,000 to volunteer programs to evaluate water quality based on chemical, physical, or biological parameters based on their interests and objectives.
