Alongside other Wyoming state agencies, the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is spreading awareness of Harmful Cyanobacterial Blooms (HCBs). As Wyoming residents head to local lakes and reservoirs this summer, the DEQ cautions recreators to limit their exposure to HCBs and report any sightings to Wyoming Department of Health (WDH). The state will then follow up to determine whether a Toxin Advisory is needed, per the state’s HCB Action Plan, updated this past spring.
The WDH Harmful Algal Blooms website shares resources on current HCB advisories in the state, the option to report HCBs exposure, and toolkits for healthcare providers.
For more information, check out the state’s HCBs website.
