The Delaware Department of Natural Resources & Environmental Control (DNREC) is promoting public appreciation and stewardship of nature through the Delaware Watersheds Photo Contest. The agency invites photos of any watershed within the state from persons of all ages and skill levels.
“This contest challenges photographers to go out to capture and share the unique beauty and functionality of Delaware’s watersheds,” says DNREC Secretary Shawn Garvin. “Photos of Delaware’s natural beauty will remind us that everything that happens on land directly affects what happens in our waterways, and may further highlight areas of the state that have a significant role in ensuring water quality and availability yet are under threat because of climate change.”
Photographers will submit photos for a panel of judges including a photographer, an educator, and a DNREC scientist, who will identify finalists that feature waterways, landscapes, sustainable watershed practices, native plants and animals, and agricultural practices. The contest winner will be determined by the public on the DNREC Division of Watersheds Facebook page in November .
