As part of its environmental education efforts, the Delaware Department of Natural Resources & Environmental Control in early March will welcome hundreds of high school students from across the state for the Delaware Youth Environmental Summit (YES!). The student-led gathering will spotlight top environmental issues and challenges and feature keynote speakers and more than two dozen breakout workshops and nonprofit and agency exhibitors. Students will meet with peers and guest speakers in hopes of inspiring youth-led action and leadership.
Planned topics include electric school buses, food waste, climate change, wildlife and hunting conservation, clean water, plastic pollution, green careers, beekeeping, clean energy, and more. DNREC Secretary Shawn Garvin will join the Summit as a keynote speaker alongside U.S. Congresswoman Lisa Blunt-Rochester, Governor John Carney, 15-year-old environmental activist Nessy Cherazard, and others.
