In December, the DC Department of Energy & Environment published a final rulemaking adopting the Advanced Clean Cars II Rule, California’s Vehicle Emission Standards. Under the regulations, automakers will be required to only sell zero-emissions vehicles beginning in 2035.
Though the regulation takes effect with the publication of the notice of final rulemaking, the standards will become enforceable in DC only after the California waiver receives U.S. EPA approval.
