The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) recently released its Environmental Permitting Guide for Economic Development in Virginia, which provides information on permit timelines, permit thresholds, and descriptions of which permits apply to a given type of project.
The programs and permits of primary interest to economic development projects outlined in this guide include:
- Air Emissions,
- Construction Stormwater,
- Impacts to Wetlands and State Surface Waters,
- Discharges to Surface Waters,
- Water Withdrawal (Groundwater & Surface Water), and
- Renewable Energy.
