Four projects of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) have garnered recognition as finalists for the 2025 Arizona Forward Environmental Excellence Awards. Arizona Forward is a statewide environmental organization, and its awards program has served as Arizona’s leading sustainability recognition event for more than 40 years.
The following ADEQ projects have been selected as finalists:
- Enhanced Permits in Process (PIP) Interactive Map and Reporting Tool
- Enhancing Water Quality in Miller Creek through Innovative Collaboration and Science-Based Solutions
- Protecting Arizona’s Water: Statewide PFAS Sampling and Mitigation Initiative, and
- Recycle Myers: Avoiding Recycling Nightmares (as previously reported by ECOS here).
In its announcement, ADEQ highlights the public-facing PIP mapping tool, a finalist in the Transparency & Engagement category. PIP provides Arizonans with up-to-date information on facilities and permits in their communities, with details on all individual permits for air quality, waste programs, and water quality. Permit applicants are able to use the same system to track application progress and contact ADEQ employees.
