Last week, Indiana participated in the 12th nationwide Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, a U.S. Department of Justice initiative aimed to provide convenient, safe, and educational ways to dispose of medications. The Indiana Department of Environmental Management partnered with the Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention Task Force to promote the event, emphasizing the importance of maintaining both clean water and healthy lives.
Although Indiana is just one of several states taking part in the take-back program, its results were impressive; statewide, 1,470 pounds of unused or expired prescription drugs were collected.
