On December 1, ECOS member and Cross-Media Vice Chair Maia Bellon of Washington sent a letter to U.S EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy urging EPA to publish the framework rules for TSCA reform implementation during this administration to leave in place a blueprint for the new presidential administration. The letter urges EPA to publish the Risk Evaluation and Prioritization rules on the schedule set in the Frank A. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act and to also issue guidance to states related to confidential business information access under TSCA. Washington’s letter conveys a desire for flexibility in the Risk Evaluation Rule to allow for modification over time as agency experience and scientific knowledge changes. This reflects ECOS comments to EPA in August on the Risk Evaluation Rule.
Washington encourages other states to reach out to EPA on this subject. A copy of the letter from Maia Bellon is available here.
