The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (IDEQ) is hosting a community program to test nitrate levels of water from private well owners in the Twin Falls area in February and March.
The program encourages residents to bring in unfiltered well water samples to screen for harmful levels of nitrate content. The department will also provide free testing bottles for future water samples and dye tablets for residents to detect septic leaks.
Because private well water quality is the responsibility of the owner, IDEQ regularly offers free testing events to ensure that residents not using public water systems maintain the safety of their drinking water.
