This week, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) planned and hosted a series of educational activities for students to enjoy during their school vacation. One such outing, at the Lafeyette Fish Hatchery, gave kids the opportunity to feed and learn about the 100,000 trout that are stocked. Other activities included guided hikes, birding, and field explorations in various parks and nature preserves throughout the state. DEM staff hope that this program encourages students to care for and enjoy nature.
