Michigan has joined neighboring states in the Lake Erie Basin and the Canadian province of Ontario by developing a plan to achieve a healthier Lake Erie ecosystem. Michigan’s draft Domestic Action Plan was developed in collaboration with several state departments and highlights their efforts to engage a variety of partners, track and report performance, and support investment in related research.
The plan centers on reducing phosphorus entering the lake and maintaining algal species consistent with healthy aquatic ecosystems. Public comments will be accepted until July 14. For more information, please visit the MDEQ site.
