The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (AZ DEQ) has streamlined the process for its Aquifer Protection permit holders to submit groundwater monitoring data. Previously, staff required up to three months to process and verify submitted data. Now, AZ DEQ has enabled permit holders to submit their data electronically using an online reporting feature. The feature also alerts permitees via email regarding pending or past due reports.
The changes have resulted in data validation, compliance status verification, and emailed notification within 24 hours, and more importantly, a reduction in elapsed time that helps prevent potential environmental damage.
AZ DEQ estimates that approximately 60% of permittees are using the online data reporting system.
