Utah Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) staff are participating in the 10th anniversary of the Clear the Air Challenge, a month-long event in which Utah residents try to cut out as many automobile trips as possible by using healthy transportation alternatives like carpooling, trip chaining, and public transportation.
Utah’s goal is to eliminate 300,000 single-occupant trips to save two million miles, thereby reducing participants’ dependence on automobiles, improving air quality, reducing traffic congestion, and conserving energy throughout the state.
DEQ staff track their progress online and blog about their experiences. Follow along for the month of February using the #UtahDEQBlog on Twitter.
