This week, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and U.S. EPA announced a new interactive story map tool to keep the public informed about response activities surrounding the Intercontinental Terminals Company LLC (ITC) fire in La Porte, Texas. The new resource can be viewed on TCEQ’s website. Featured are TCEQ and EPA’s response actions, as well as maps, photos, and sampling locations.
Following the March 17 tank fire at the ITC facility, the agencies remain onsite for emergency response focused on providing assistance and coordination to address any discharges from the site. TCEQ and EPA have been conducting water sampling and air monitoring throughout the affected areas, and test results are being posted daily to the TCEQ’s incident website daily.
