Beginning on May 30, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is holding a training mini-series to help healthcare facilities and other regulated entities understand their obligations under U.S. EPA’s new Hazardous Waste (HW) Pharmaceutical Rule. The rule, published in the Federal Register in February, will be incorporated into Virginia’s Hazardous Waste Management Regulations and will take effect within the Commonwealth later this year. DEQ will offer an opening webinar giving a high-level overview of the rule’s requirements for identification and disposal of HW pharmaceuticals, and a more in-depth training course this summer for more interested facilities. Virginia-based participants can find more information on the rule and training course here.
