On June 26, Maine Governor Janet Mills signed three bills into law that will help increase adoption of renewable energy, promote clean energy jobs, and address climate change.
Among other provisions, the bills:
- Create a Maine Climate Council that will develop action plans to reduce Maine greenhouse gas emissions, promote economic growth, and increase climate resiliency
- Increase Maine’s Renewable Portfolio Standard from 40% to 80% by 2030 and
- Provide incentives for new distributed generation renewable energy projects.
