This week, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is conducting outreach at the Iowa State Fair to educate the public about all things conservation and environment.
Exhibits include live native animals and large aquariums with fish found in Iowa’s lakes and streams. A stream table with running water provides a scaled version of the Iowa landscape, giving fairgoers a closeup of how streams work and about the latest in water quality efforts in the state. In addition, live programming will touch on backyard birding, the history of Iowa state parks, water quality, tree diseases, insects, and more.
DNR experts will be on hand daily at the fair to answer questions and share information about careers within the agency.
