In another effort to clean up the Anacostia River, the District Department of Energy & Environment will reintroduce 35,000 native mussels to the river through a grant awarded to the Anacostia Watershed Society. The grant will not only provide thousands of bivalves to help clean up the river, but will also allow the nonprofit to engage 400 city youth to assist with the project.
