The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) Air Quality Bureau has announced that monthly it will post online the data it receives on excess emissions. NMED is taking this action to highlight the extent and volume of excess emissions that can contribute to degrading air quality, including greenhouse gas increases and ozone exceedances.
Facilities that exceed their permitted emission limits are required to submit an excess emission report to NMED. Data from these reports cover facilities, pollutants, quantities, and duration and cause of exceedances.
