Last month, Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Illinois EPA) Director John J. Kim announced a $2 million loan to the Village of Arthur in Douglas County. The low-interest loan is provided from agency’s State Revolving Fund, which includes the Public Water Supply Loan Program for drinking water projects and the Water Pollution Control Loan Program that funds both wastewater and stormwater projects.
“This project will address specific concerns the community has with their sanitary sewer system,” explains Kim. “This funding will allow the Village to address a major infrastructure need through a low-interest loan, resulting in cost savings for the community.”
The Village of Arthur will receive additional benefit from the State Revolving Fund, as the subsidized loan results in additional savings over the life of the loan. Completion of the project is slated for May 2020.
