The Utah Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is accepting submissions for its annual Radon Program Poster Contest. The contest, designed for children in grades 4-12, aims to raise awareness of radon testing, which is simple and inexpensive, and to inform residents about the danger of radon in their homes. Winners will receive cash awards and the opportunity to meet with the state’s Governor in January, which is National Radon Action Month.
DEQ reports that one in three Utah homes has elevated levels of radon, a naturally occurring gas. To learn more about the state’s efforts on radon and the contest, see here.
