The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA) is one of several partner agencies participating in Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s H2Ohio initiative to ensure safe and clean drinking water for all Ohioans. Last year the Ohio General Assembly invested $172 million, leading to DeWine’s December announcement of the H2Ohio water quality plan.
Among other partners, the Ohio EPA, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and Ohio Department of Agriculture are working together to invest in projects that will reduce nutrients and harmful algal blooms, improve wastewater infrastructure, prevent lead contamination, and provide long-term economic and water quality benefits to communities statewide.
Ohio EPA’s efforts are primarily focused on infrastructure improvements and reducing phosphorus coming from failing septic systems. They are also providing some funds for home sewage treatment system repairs.
