ECOS Requests Additional Funding for COVID-19 Response
On March 30, 2020, ECOS sent a letter to the leadership of the U.S. House and Senate Appropriations Committees, Subcommittees for Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies. The letter touted the need for funding to support state environmental agencies whose budgets and workloads have been impacted by the public health crisis and response to the novel Coronavirus. The letter requested that additional funding be provided through an emergency stimulus bill, or else through the regular Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 appropriations process. Read the letter
ECOS Written Congressional Testimony on FY21 Appropriations
House Testimony / Senate Testimony
In Spring 2020, ECOS submitted testimony to the U.S. House and Senate Appropriations Committees, Subcommittees on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies. The testimony addresses FY21 Appropriations for the U.S. EPA, specifically regarding State and Tribal Assistance Grants (STAG Categorical Grants) and other key state-related funding issues.
ECOS Summary of President’s Budget Request for U.S. EPA
On February 10th, 2020 the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released the President’s Budget Request for Fiscal Year (FY) 2021. OMB requested a U.S. EPA funding level of $6.6 billion. Also on February 10th, U.S. EPA released its “Budget in Brief” and Congressional Justification documents which provides detail beyond the President’s Budget including alternative breakdowns, figures, and explanatory statements of budget decisions.
