For a fifth consecutive year, the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WDEQ) Air Quality Division will join U.S. EPA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in celebrating Air Quality Awareness Week on May 4-8.
The national theme for 2020 is “Better Air, Better Health.” WDEQ’s outreach messages encourage Wyoming residents to be aware of air quality in or around their area, and inspire them to take action in reducing their respective contributions, no matter how small or large, to air pollution.
The week will provide informative opportunities for Wyoming’s citizens to learn more about the state’s air quality and how it pertains to their day-to-day lives. Residents will be encouraged to consider small daily habits – such as idling vehicles less and or riding a bicycle – that can have positive impacts on air quality and public health. The celebration will also include fun educational resources and activities on air quality and the environment, including an art contest for students.
In addition, WDEQ will also reach out to citizens who have subscribed to its email updates with daily challenges on how they can help preserve clean air in Wyoming. Each day’s challenge will contain informative facts and useful practices that encourage clean air.
