In order to be prepared should infrastructure funding be part of an economic stimulus package, the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is conducting a Clean Watersheds Needs Survey. The survey asks all municipal and quasi-municipal wastewater entities and stormwater groups for information on their current needs, and gathers information on financial status. DEP will use the survey results to allocate any stimulus funds and to provide information to the state legislature.
This is an excellent example of an agency preparing to respond quickly to potential stimulus funds while also gathering valuable information about the state of their states wastewater and stormwater systems.
