Last month, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) won the 2020 National Association of State Chief Information Officers Award for Business Process Innovations for their work on environmental mapping with unmanned aerial vehicles. ECOS, which is aware of 17 states using drones in their programs, expects to publish a report on the topic in January 2021. ECOS and its partners also presented a webinar in December 2020 on drones as part of the E-Enterprise 2020 webinar series featuring speakers from Michigan, Louisiana, and North Carolina.
