In Wyoming’s Upper Green River Basin (UGRB), cold weather conditions cause an uptick in winter ozone formation each year. This year, the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality has worked with regulated communities and stakeholders to improve upon its winter ozone mitigation efforts and public outreach. The expanded efforts include additional seasonal monitoring, updates to the WyVisNet air quality website, and a series of public outreach videos on Youtube.
The efforts to improve air quality in the UGRB, underway since 2005, have resulted in lower emissions of volatile organic compounds and oxides of nitrogen.
