To build community awareness and knowledge about their work, the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation’s Division of Spill Prevention and Response is holding an open house at their spill prevention and response warehouse in Anchorage. On the afternoon of October 24 interested members of the public can visit the warehouse to learn about the equipment and professionals ready to respond to spills across the state. Visitors will have the opportunity to see oil spill cleanup equipment like skimmers and booms, an emergency towing system for getting vessels safely to port, and spill response shipping containers that are ready for deployment.
