Through the application of Lean principles and techniques, and what is now called the Arizona Management System (AMS), ADEQ is delivering enhanced environmental protection for Arizona at the “speed of business.” ADEQ has reduced waste in the agency, dramatically increased positive environmental outcomes, and delivered award-winning online services for customers — all while keeping agency costs flat.
ADEQ developed and implemented outcome-based performance measures that make priorities clear and address customer and end-user value and investor/taxpayer benefits. Frontline managers and staff embrace problems as opportunities for improvement, and the people-based approach and culture of continuous improvement using AMS is driving resources, creativity, energy, innovation, and results.
