The Arkansas Department of Energy & Environment recognized National Groundwater Awareness Week on March 10-16 with a series of home tips to protect water. On its Facebook page daily, DEE shared simple actions the public can take to protect groundwater quantity and quality. The advice ranges from saving water by washing your car at a car wash to using a rain barrel to conserve water and minimize runoff.
Groundwater Awareness Week was established in 1999 to highlight the responsible development, management, and use of groundwater. It is also a platform to encourage yearly water well testing and well maintenance, as well as the promotion of policies impacting groundwater quality and supply.
