To help spread the word about PFAS, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) has developed a PFAS StoryMap that shares some basic information on chemicals and their health impacts, along with PFAS data collected in the state. Users can explore maps that display the results of surface water and drinking.
EPD updates the maps as it monitors for PFAS under the Safe Drinking Water Act Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR5) and conducts additional drinking water monitoring of systems that rely on groundwater that the state has determined is highly susceptible to pollution. EPD is even sharing the data related to PFBS, GenX, PFNA, and PFHxS through the Hazard Index proposed in EPA’s draft drinking water MCL for PFAS.
