In Boise this week, Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) co-sponsored the 2017 Groundwater Foundation National Conference. The conference showcased real- world solutions to groundwater management.
With the meeting held in Idaho and DEQ a sponsor, multiple panels featured DEQ staff. These included presentations on an approach to investigating sources of nitrate in groundwater that allows DEQ to combine its sampling results with those from other agencies to identify trends. Two DEQ staff members discussed state level efforts to promote source water protection and groundwater quality. And DEQ staff shared a set of education and outreach tools to raise awareness about groundwater as source water during a panel on groundwater education.
