As mentioned last week during the ECOS Spring Meeting open discussion of boosting agency productivity, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources has developed a useful infographic showing it is managing to exceed expectations amid the pandemic.
The infographic highlights successes in air, water, waste, compliance, and other areas. Among the items are steadily increasing industry usage numbers for the new Iowa Easy Air online system, from 40% in February 2020 to 89% in January 2021. Moreover, water supply operations permit issuance was up 24% in 2020 compared to 2019, even in a remote work setting. Since the beginning of 2020, the wait time for solid waste project approval has fallen 44% since the beginning of 2020. And in nearly all the metrics identified by the Air Water Quality Bureau, Iowa has maintained or increased its performance in compliance reporting amid telework.
