A broad-based Energy Affordability Workgroup consisting of Kentucky state agencies and others has issued an Energy Affordability Dashboard to provide easy access to data that will inform a common understanding of the state’s community energy needs and leverage available funding to address them. The dashboard was prompted in part by the recognition of the Kentucky Energy & Environment Cabinet that 30% of energy used by Kentucky single-family homes can be saved through cost-effective improvements.
The state’s Office of Energy Policy launched the workgroup in 2021. It brings together state energy and environmental regulators with utility companies and nonprofits, all of whom are committed to pursuing solutions that promote energy efficiency, utilize energy-related data, provide more intentional community engagement, and connect people to available resources.
