Last week, the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) wrapped up its Environmental Ambassador Program (LEAP) launched earlier this year. On their final day, LEAP interns presented their projects to Secretary Aurelia Giacometto and other DEQ staff. The interns discussed their experience with the program, highlighting environmental agency work and the role DEQ plays in interacting with industry.
During the program, interns toured Mandeville and St. Tammany Parish Wastewater Treatment plant and discussed the Wetland Assimilation Project. They also learned about careers in conservation by hearing from Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries officials. [Henderson]
