The Maine Department of Environmental Protection has announced the recipients of grant awards for recycling and organics management projects. These projects are targeted at diverting waste from disposal by expanding composting and recycling opportunities across Maine.
DEP received seven proposals requesting over $112,000, and will award more than $88,000 to fund six of the projects. This is the first-time DEP is providing grants to help businesses, institutions, and municipalities address solid waste management challenges.
