As it does every five years, the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is working to update the state’s Solid Waste Management and Recycling Plan. To gather input from a variety of stakeholders across the state, DEP has held three regional meetings and plans to hold two more this month and next. All five meetings are hybrid, allowing stakeholders to attend in person or virtually.
In addition to seeking input during the meetings, DEP is accepting written comments through September. The meetings and the plan DEP is writing will focus on strategies and actions that help Maine achieve its recycling, composting, and waste reduction goals.
