The Maine Department of Environmental Protection has issued an annual report entitled Implementing Product Stewardship in Maine, January 2018. The report provides updates on the performance evaluations of Maine’s seven extended producer responsibility programs, which include beverage containers, dry mercuric oxide and rechargeable batteries, mercury auto switches, electronic waste, mercury thermostats, mercury lamps, and architectural paint. These programs require producers to establish collection and recycling programs for such products.
