Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and several state departments have announced new efforts to boost environmental sustainability by reducing energy usage in government facilities.
“These steps are a win-win for the environment and taxpayers. By improving our government’s environmental footprint while lowering energy costs we’re able to prove that sustainable practices can and will work across our state from rural, forested locations to downtown Detroit,” said Whitmer.
Specific actions to further sustainability include: developing and implementing best practices for sustainability in state facilities, converting state parks and fish hatcheries to renewable energy, and working toward green prisons.
