The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, & Energy (EGLE) announced in December that it has updated its cleanup criteria for groundwater used as drinking water to include five new PFAS compounds, bringing the total number of PFAS regulated in groundwater to seven.
Effective December 21, 2020, PFNA, PFHxS, PFHxA, PFBS, and HFPO-DA (also known as GenX) joined PFOS and PFOA as regulated compounds in Michigan. The new cleanup criteria values for these compounds correspond with the maximum contaminant levels (MCL) for municipal drinking water adopted by EGLE in August 2020.
See the EGLE press release for full details on the new cleanup criteria.
