The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is offering $400,000 in grants in 2017 to owners of older, heavy-duty diesel engines who upgrade or replace their engines with cleaner-burning models.
MPCA’s Clean Diesel grants manager, Mark Sulzbach, said that “diesel owners can save on fuel and maintenance while drastically cutting air pollution.” According to the agency, replacing big diesels manufactured before 2007 greatly improves air quality, and U.S. EPA estimates that every dollar spent on reducing diesel pollution saves $13 in health care costs.
More information about the grants is available here . Funding for the grant is provided under U.S. EPA’s Diesel Emission Reduction Act (DERA), from which many states benefit.
