The Mississippi Governor’s Delta Sustainable Water Resources Task Force will hold two meetings in early March to inform producers in the Mississippi Delta of ongoing and future activities to help address declining water levels in the Mississippi River Valley Alluvial Aquifer. The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), a member of the task force, will present on the importance of permit requirements to implement water use efficiency practices.
The task force, which also includes the Yazoo Mississippi Delta Joint Water Management District, Delta Council, Delta F.A.R.M., Mississippi Farm Bureau, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Mississippi Soil and Water Conservation Commission, seeks to develop and implement actions to sustain water resources for agriculture, aquaculture, and wildlife in the Delta.
