The Montana Department of Environmental Quality’s Wetland Program has developed a dynamic story map showcasing information learned through an investigation of wetlands across the Musselshell River Basin from 2014 to 2017. The goal of the investigation was to understand the effect of land use practices on Montana communities, the economy, and the environment.
The condition of 159 wetlands was evaluated to understand the risk that a wetland will no longer provide benefits based on its surrounding land uses. This information can help inform interested organizations and individuals as to the appropriate measures that can be taken to protect, restore, and maintain the benefits provided by wetlands in the Musselshell River Basin.
