In early December, the State of Nevada Climate Initiative released a State Climate Strategy that provides an integrated, economy-wide roadmap to accelerate climate action necessary to achieve Nevada’s climate goals and capture the health and economic benefits of the clean energy and technology revolution. The strategy centers on three goals: providing a framework for reducing greenhouse gas emissions; laying the groundwork for improving resilience to climate change impacts; and establishing a structure for continued climate action to achieve the state’s goals.
The strategy was developed in response to an Executive Order on Climate Change issued by Governor Sisolak in November 2019.
ECOS member Brad Crowell, Director of the Nevada Department of Conservation & Natural Resources, notes that under Governor Steve Sisolak’s leadership, the climate initiative “will continue to elevate Nevada’s commitment to the collaboration and innovation necessary to ensure a vibrant, sustainable, climate-resilient future for all Nevadans.” [Hanson]
