The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP), as part of the Nevada Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) Task Force, introduced a new HAB tracking tool this summer. The dashboard provides information on water sample results that are portrayed on a map and in tabular form with a simple color code representing different advisory levels.
This tool is just one activity of the Nevada HAB Task Force, a multi-agency collaboration between NDEP, the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, Office of State Epidemiology, the Nevada Division of State Parks, the Nevada Department of Wildlife, and the Nevada Department of Agriculture. The Task Force that began in 2019 published the Nevada HAB Strategic Response Plan earlier this year.
Other examples of cross-agency collaborations to address HABs are available here on the ECOS website.
