This week, the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (DES) announced its agreement with Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics to permanently provide safe drinking water to more than 700 properties in the state. DES has been working with Saint-Gobain for two years to respond to PFOA in groundwater near one of the company’s facilities.
“We are extremely pleased that NHDES and Saint-Gobain were able to reach agreement on connecting all of the disputed properties to an alternate water source,” said Robert Scott, DES Commissioner.
Prior to establishing the consent decree this week, DES and Saint-Gobain have worked to sample groundwater, surface water, and water supply wells. This sampling led the company to address contamination by providing point-of-use treatment systems or connecting municipal water lines for more than 500 properties.
