The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has launched a $20M climate resilience program to modernize New Jersey’s stormwater infrastructure and address flooding related to climate change-induced increases in precipitation. Funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, the Ready to Be Resilient Stormwater and Resilience Funding Program offers $9M in grants and technical assistance for stormwater planning, vulnerability assessments, and watershed management.
The program will also provide $11M to finance priority stormwater management construction projects that will improve infrastructure and community resilience. The initiative emphasizes green infrastructure technology and nature-based solutions to mitigate flood risks and improve water quality, particularly in overburdened communities.
