As part of its efforts to address PFAS in New Jersey’s environment, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is spearheading a statewide “take back and disposal” of firefighting foam containing PFAS chemicals.
In late March, the DEP will coordinate and fund the collection of approximately 18,000 gallons of aqueous film forming foam – known as AFFF, a Class B fire foam – from more than 140 municipal fire companies.
